Visit at Leonardo Helicopter with Industri Energi

Vici Helicopter AS is a new helicopter operator mobile introducing Leonardo AW 189 helicopter to the offshore market in Norway. To make sure that our potential customers understand what we are offering, we have paid few visits to the customers in order to present the structure of the company and the helicopters to be used. In addition, we have searched advice Industri Energi (IE), which represents the majority of the personnel transported by helicopter, and kept them informed about the development of Vici Helicopter. As passengers and union, IE has been very interested in understanding the various safety features of the new helicopter type. Vici responded to the questions by arreging a visit to the Leonardo factory in Italy on Thursday 23rd, March 2017. We invited IE to join us for a day in the Leonardo facilities in Cascina Costa northwest of Milan, Italy. IE representatives, Vici Helicopter Management and Vici Helicopter investors were met at the gate of Leonardo facilities by Andrea Giola, responsible for Civil Commercial Sales at Leonardo. Well received in a proper set up meeting room, Leonardo was represented by personnel from various branches to be able to present and answer questions about Leonardo Company and the AW 189 helicopter. Roberto Garavaglia gave a very professional and detailed presentation on the history and development of Leonardo. The specifics of the AW 189 ware presented by the specialists on the topics.mobile After the presentation, we were guided through the Centre of Excellence, where the gearboxes, heart of the aircraft, are produced. Very interesting to see the details and the fact that 100% of all parts were checked in detail before assembling, assembled gearboxes are tested, taken apart and checked, re-assembled again and tested again. The program of the visit icluded a demo flight in the AW 189. We were transported to Vergiate, which is the area were all helicopters perform their final checks before delivered to customers. Before we entered the helicopter, a safety brief was performed. As one of the IE persons was actually a pilot, he was invited to sit in the co-pilot seat. During the flight one of the IE passengers to have a feeling of the space mobile    available in this 16 seats configured cabin, wore the offshore survival suit. Feedback on the space available was good, vibration level was low, and noise level were lower than expected. There was only one comment made on the headrest only, as they were probably not designed with this survival suit in mind. A suggestion for a modification to the headrest will be raised. After the flight, we were guided through the final assembly line, where we have been shown the division of the production line of AW 189 and AW 139 in 6 different steps. For the AW 189, each step was estimated to be 11 days. Total assembly time results in 66 days. Impressive structure of the assembly line. At the final summary brief, we all concluded that this had been a very informative and pleasant day. What we have seen during the day have proved that AW 189 definitely has the ability to meet the requirements and the standard needed to transport personnel in the Norwegian offshore market.
